Charlie Siren: Featured Musician- Dec. 2012

© Charlie Siren.

Charlie Siren is an awesome local band we got hooked up with not too long ago, and they even asked us to be a part of their music video! Check out the video above to spot some our our OBSOLETE skate team and friends shredding.

1. How would you describe your sound?
Fast paced, happy, popunk. If you are familiar with Blink 182, we are told we sound a lot like them. We’ve been told we sound a lot like a modern day Enema of the State. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Blink 182, you should go listen to them, because they are one of the greatest bands of all time.

2. How did you come up with your name?
After months of tossing around lame ideas, we finally just said, “fuck it” and put two random words together, while on a very long, boring road trip.

3. What gives you inspiration for your music?
Almost everything, mainly bands in the poppunk genre, live shows, intoxicated ventures, friends and our crappy day jobs.

4. Influences?
Punk rock in general from the old to the new and everything in between.

5. Favorite 3 Bands
A Summer Better Than Yours
Strong City
Atlas on Strike

6. Favorite show you’ve played?
September 11th, 2012 we played in Waterloo, IA with Off With Their Heads. Was a great show, great audience for a Tuesday night, there are a lot of cool people in that town and we always have awesome shoes down there!
7. If you could play a show with anyone past or present who would it be and why?
Boys No Good, because they are a band that greatly influenced Charlie Siren when we started writing and unfortunately they have broken up.

8. What comes to mind when you think of the saying ‘Punk As Fuck’…. like the slogan we use on our apparel?
Vandalism, beat up clothes, poorly made drunken decisions. Anything DIY.

9. Favorite place to hang out in Minneapolis?
Las Teresitas with the exception of Memory Lanes on Monday nights.

10. Any shout outs or last words?…

We just want to say thank you to Steve Did This who recently helped us in the creation of our music video, “Michael Bay Ruined the Transformers.”

If you have never heard or listened to the bands we listed above we highly recommend that you do, they are all truly awesome bands that deserve to be heard.

For all of you into the pop punk and hardcore scene check out Uprising Apparel, they have been helping us out a lot lately and have wicket shirt designs!

Lastly, thank you to Obsolete and their skaters for helping us out with our music video, “Michael Bay Ruined the Transformers.”. Without this great team the music video would not have been as cool or as fun as it was! So THANK YOU! Obsolete is ‘Punk As Fuck!’
